Motat Trip

On Tuesday Room 3 went to Motat.  We explored how toys work, and will use it as our springboard in to designing a new toy.  Thanks so much to the parents who came with us for the day.  Have a look at some of the things we got up to...

Helpers needed for School Gardens

Looking After Our School Gardens - Can you help?

We are busy planning our Enrichment day for Friday 28th August and are looking forward to the many exciting opportunities that will be available for our students to engage in.

We are wanting to revitalise our school vegetable gardens and begin to set these up to produce a range of vegetables our children can use, eat and explore in our learning.  If you have any seedlings, seeds, plastic pots, gardening tools, or you are an expert in gardening,  we would really appreciate your donations or time, to help with this initiative.

Please contact Katherine Aitken on kaitken@upperharbour.school.nz if you have any resources we can use or you are able to come and help on the day.

This morning was very unusual at UHPS, something strange happened.  Luckily some reporters from Room 3 were ready at the scene to do some reporting...

Breaking News.....
This is breaking news, coming to you live in 3..2..1..go!
Something gassy at UHPS - unusually strong, odd and curious!  There was a gas leak outside somewhere.  The children had to play outside for fifty minutes until it was fixed.  In that fifty minutes the children played handball and one touch.  Ms Craig did a great job at keeping us safe.
This is Jonathan Teng reporting to you live.

Breaking News... UHPS had to go on the field because there was a gas leak.  They had to stay outside for 50 minutes.  It didn't rain or anything.  There were heaps of games to play.  Vector came to fix the leak, then we were allowed back inside.  This is Troy Greenslade reporting live from UHPS.

It was another sunny day in Josephineville City until an odd smell started going round the awesome UHPS.  Ms Craig (the amazing principal) decided that everyone should play outside, away from the gassy smell.  Luckily, the gas leak did no harm to anyone. Phew! Some kids sat down and had a chat, some ran around and some played games.  They stayed outside for 50 minutes.  And now, over to Jim for the weather...

Breaking news... On the 17th of June... Reporting live from Sophie.  In the morning at 8, a terrible gas leak was smelt.  It filled the air.  We had to stay outside for 50 minutes in the cold, damp day. Well, enough.  It was fun.  I heard that it was the wee and poop pipe that had burst, so Ava, Tahlia and I tried to make a plan.  But it wasn't that we could smell.  Phew.  Instead we went back to the classroom.

Room 3s creativity

This term we have been focusing on creativity. We had people come in yesterday to show us what was in the magic suitcase. We had a couple of guesses before they showed us. Look at what Room 3 have created during the term. We did plays and are making paper mache puppets and a whole heap more. It has been a lot of fun!

Create....

Mrs Smith gave us 45 minutes to create something with the things that we have in the class.  This is what we came up with - what do you think?

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Today we started to CREATE our paper mache puppets.  We have each chosen a character from a fairy tale that we know, and we will make the puppets to show at our 'Arty Party' later on in the term (to which you will all be invited to!)

These are some of the WOW words that the class came up with to describe how it felt to work with the glue...

          - oozy                - sticky               - slippery
       - interesting       - slimy               - gooey

       - disgusting        - freezing cold
